People First

People First of Louisiana is part of a national coalition of organizations of people with disabilities. As a statewide organization they support people with disabilities to empower themselves to become effective decision makers, to gain independence, and to enjoy life as equal citizens of the United States of America.

The State Personal Assistance Services program provides personal assistance services to people with significant disabilities to assist them with activities of daily living.

Louisiana’s Traumatic Head & Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund Program provides services and supports in a flexible, individualized manner to Louisiana citizens with traumatic head or traumatic spinal cord injuries.

Micro Enterprise Program

This project enables individuals with disabilities and the elderly to start small businesses.  Through self – employment, participants are given the opportunity to utilize their talents and creativity in creating a small business

This project is a joint effort of The Arc of Louisiana and the ILRU (Independent Living Research Utilization) project to connect legal professionals, human service professionals, advocates, Louisianans with disabilities and their families.
