Position: Program Facilitator

Summary of Duties:
Employee reports directly to the Advocacy Director.  Carries out assigned duties of the project and works closely with individuals and community groups towards the development of the self-advocacy movement.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Will coordinate planning meetings to promote chapter development (as needed).
  2. Will direct self-advocacy meetings until group elects representatives to assume duties.
  3. Will teach elected officers their respective roles and duties and responsibilities.
  4. Will attend trainings, workshops, and conferences to increase knowledge of self-advocacy.  Included may be activities throughout the State of Louisiana or on a national level.
  5. Trains and directly supervises Chapter mentors.  Arranges for additional support as needed to assure Chapter Mentors have what they need to carry out their roles.
  6. Will assist in coordinating (local, state, and regional) conferences, meetings, etc. as related to the disability rights movement.
  7. Will submit monthly report(s) concerning the development of activities of local chapters with assistance from the Chapter Mentors.
  8. Will assist with recruiting, and training volunteers to work with the local chapters.
  9. Will network with state agencies, to educate and inform them about self-advocacy.
  10. Will attend monthly staff meetings.
  11. May be required to perform unspecified duties.

 

Qualifications:
Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Program Facilitator in the disability field. Travel is required so reliable transportation is required. Skills needed are self-motivation, organizational skills, recordkeeping, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer.
